Food Issues Resolved in Blockaded Hin Shen with Peacekeepers' Help, Says Villager
Yesterday, there was a food issue in the village, but we managed to bring it in. This is what Samvel Sargsyan, the village head of Hin Shen in the Shushi region of the Republic of Artsakh, told 24News, addressing the situation created by the blockade of the Lachin corridor.
On the morning of December 12, starting at 10:30 AM, a group of Azerbaijanis posing as "environmentalists" blocked the Goris-Stepanakert highway (Lachin corridor) at the Shushi-Karin Tak section. Since that day, the Azerbaijanis have set up tents and are staying at the site while continuing their gathering.
Due to the closure of the Lachin corridor, the villages of Lisagor, Mets Shen, Hin Shen, and Yeghdzahogh, which fall under the jurisdiction of Artsakh, have found themselves in a bilateral blockade.
Samvel Sargsyan, the head of Hin Shen, stated that they are solving various problems with the support of the Russian peacekeeping forces. According to Sargsyan, there is no despair among the local population.
"The school, the village administration, and the shops are operating," he said. Azerbaijan has halted the gas supply from the Artsakh territory it controls, and residents are forced to find alternative means to address their issues.
"Our village is forested, we organize heating with firewood, and we have gas cylinders filled, which are not yet finished," concluded the head of Hin Shen.
