Britain Cannot Privatize the Land Belonging to the People of Artsakh, Stepanian

Actions in support of Artsakh continue in front of diplomatic representations operating in Armenia. The aim of these actions is to achieve a targeted condemnation of Azerbaijan's provocations by the international community and to take practical steps to restore the rights of the people of Artsakh, as well as to re-establish uninterrupted connections between Artsakh and Armenia.

After carrying out protests in front of the UN office, embassies of the USA, China, Russia, and the EU delegation in Armenia, participants gathered in front of the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, where the human rights defender of Artsakh, Gegham Stepanian, addressed the UK government.

“Since Azerbaijan has started provocations and criminal actions under the pretext of so-called environmental issues, and since there are discussions about the possible involvement of certain organizations from Great Britain in all of this, meaning there is specific information that companies registered in the UK operating in the mining sector have acquired the mine, I want to draw the attention of the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the following fact: the resources located in the territory of Artsakh belong to the people of Artsakh. All the mines exploited in Artsakh are the property of the people of Artsakh. Neither Great Britain nor any country in the world can privatize what belongs to the indigenous Armenian people of Artsakh. This is for your information,” emphasized the human rights defender of Artsakh.

Gegham Stepanian also urged Great Britain, as a member of the UN Security Council, to “at least not obstruct the actions that should guarantee the protection of the rights of the people of Artsakh.”
