Albanians Forcefully Occupy Municipalities in Kosovo: Serbia

Albanians in Kosovo, with the support of the police, have carried out a power grab in the municipality of Severna Mitrovica in northern Kosovo and Metohija. This was announced on Wednesday by Petar Petkovic, head of the Kosovo and Metohija office in the Serbian government. This is reported by TASS.

“Today, through legal violence and unilateral actions, the Albanians have seized parliamentary mandates belonging to Serbs in the Serbian municipality of Kosovska Mitrovica, even though no one voted in their favor and they have no support from the Serbian people,” said Petkovic.

Media reports indicate that on Wednesday, Kosovars entered the municipal building, and a session of the municipal council took place under the protection of the Kosovo police, where representatives from Albanians were appointed. The appointed deputies “swore an oath,” after which they “elected” the head of the municipality. The new head is Albanian Nejat Ugllani.

According to Petkovic, these actions aim to create a “mono-ethnic Albanian municipality” and to eliminate all Serbs from the northern part of Mitrovica. “The events clearly show that Pristina and (self-proclaimed Kosovo Prime Minister) Albin Kurti's main goal is to have no Serbs in the north,” emphasized Petar Petkovic.
