US State Department Warns Georgia
The US State Department is "paying very close attention" to the treatment of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and reminds that the Georgian government is responsible for ensuring dignified treatment.
"The protection of Mr. Saakashvili's health and human rights is the responsibility of the Georgian government. Based on recommendations from the public defender's medical experts, we will continue to engage with relevant parties to take necessary measures for Saakashvili's health and well-being," the State Department's statement reads.
