US Proposes Ban on TikTok: What We Know
The US Congress has introduced a bill to ban TikTok. According to TASS, lawmakers argue that the United States should prohibit the use of TikTok as it could potentially be exploited by the Chinese Communist Party.
Senator Marco Rubio stated that TikTok 'collects data every day on tens of millions of Americans, including children and adults.' Furthermore, the bill empowers the US President to prohibit 'any transactions' with companies operating in the social media sector if they are believed to be controlled by authorities from Venezuela, Iran, China, Cuba, Russia, or North Korea.
The document does not mention any other companies besides TikTok and ByteDance.
