Russian Peacekeepers Await Orders from Above
According to the newspaper "Hraparak," "Since yesterday morning, the Azerbaijani side has once again closed the Stepanakert-Goris road under the guise of an environmental protest, effectively placing tens of thousands of Artsakh Armenians under blockade.
Significantly, unlike the provocations of previous days, where representatives from Artsakh participated in negotiations with the Azerbaijanis—particularly Secretary of the Security Council Vitaly Balasanyan—yesterday the peacekeepers sharply rejected the participation of the Artsakh side. Even members of the National Assembly were not allowed to approach the site where, after the road was closed, more than two hours passed with Armenian vehicles being held "captive." The Russian peacekeepers stated that there would be no negotiations, which was also a demand from the Azerbaijanis. They indicated that resolving the issue requires a political decision, and they have no intention of using force to remove the Azerbaijanis. When they receive that decision from "above," they will know their next steps.
This explains the message released last night on behalf of the leaders of parliamentary factions, urging: "We call on the Russian peacekeepers to take stronger measures within the framework of the trilateral agreement to prevent such inhumane actions by the Azerbaijanis."
