EU Countries Unable to Agree on Gas Price Cap, Says Hungarian Foreign Minister

During a meeting of EU energy ministers in Brussels, no consensus was reached on the gas price cap, and discussions are ongoing. This was reported by Hungary's Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.

“There is a significant debate in the Energy Council; we were unable to reach an agreement in a plenary session, and discussions are continuing in a bilateral format. The meeting is chaired by Czech Industry Minister Josef Sikela, and I can also tell him that setting a gas price cap is a bad idea,” Szijjártó wrote, accompanying his statement with a photo from negotiations with Sikela.

He also pointed out that Brussels is “failing to solve” Europe's energy crisis by proposing poor ideas such as a gas price cap.

It should be recalled that oil sanctions against European countries came into effect on December 5.
