On December 10, 2022, the Azerbaijani side planned to conduct a visit to the Drmbon and Kashen mineral deposits, based on a prior request directed to the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces deployed in the Republic of Artsakh regarding monitoring activities in the Martakert region. This was reported by the Information Headquarters of Artsakh.

“The command of the peacekeeping forces, in accordance with instructions from their superior bodies, has been permitted a one-time visual visit to the aforementioned mineral deposits. Considering that the proposed program has not been coordinated in the established manner with the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh and the organization exploiting the deposits, the entry of the aforementioned group to the area was spontaneously blocked by employees of the mining organization and residents of the surrounding communities,” the statement said.

To resolve the created situation, representatives of the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh went to the gathering places, and as a result of negotiations, it was decided to halt the planned tour of the mineral deposits and address this issue after further discussions.

We urge the citizens of the Republic of Artsakh to refrain from spreading unverified information and to follow only official announcements.

We assure that the authorities are taking all necessary steps to avoid unnecessary tension and to resolve all issues in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Artsakh,” the statement added.

Earlier, the leader of the Artsakh opposition, Tigran Petrosyan, had reported on his Facebook page that today a group of Azerbaijani environmentalists managed to reach the Kashen field, where they intended to conduct some inspections. The security service of the mineral deposit did not allow the Azerbaijanis to proceed, and they were forced to leave.

It is worth noting that earlier, Artsakh National Assembly member Arthur Harutyunyan had stated that the so-called environmentalists were actually employees of Azerbaijani special services.
