Peskov on Uzbekistan's Rejection of Gas Union with Russia and Kazakhstan

Russian President's spokesman Dmitry Peskov has labeled reports regarding Uzbekistan's rejection of the idea to create a gas union with Russia and Kazakhstan as an "attempt to politicize these processes," according to RIA Novosti.

“All of this requires coordination not from a political point of view, as Reuters agency has written, but rather from the perspective of trading interests and the trading interests of the three countries," Peskov stated, noting that the remarks from Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister had been distorted and that there has been a repeated attempt by Reuters to politicize all these processes.

He also commented on the situation near the shores of Turkey, where oil tankers are accumulating, stating that what is occurring should not be called an attempt at blackmail.

Kazakhstan and Russia's Presidents, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin, discussed the creation of a gas union involving Uzbekistan during a meeting held in the Kremlin at the end of November.
