Armenia and Azerbaijan Reach Agreement on One Point of Peace Treaty, Grigoryan States What It Is
There is one point in the peace treaty on which Armenia and Azerbaijan have reached an agreement. This point pertains to the establishment of diplomatic relations within the framework of the Vienna Convention. This was announced today by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, during an extraordinary session of the National Assembly.
“There is currently no clear agreement on any other point,” he stated.
Recall that on November 16, Prime Minister Pashinyan announced in the National Assembly that the Republic of Armenia has two approaches to signing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan: a detailed agreement model and a framework agreement model. The framework agreement model is one where the outline is drawn without major specifics.
Pashinyan noted that experience shows that attempting to solve issues in a highly detailed manner can lead to difficulties arising. This is why Armenia has proposed signing a framework peace agreement, which is an accepted practice. Armenia should also work towards this path.
