If Everything Goes Well, 20,000 to 40,000 Jobs Will Be Created in Gyumri, Kerobyan
The concept of creating a dry port in Shirak is already in place, and the government has taken the lead on this issue, said Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan in an interview with News.am.
He noted that the implementation of this project will be discussed in the upcoming public investment committee. "Preliminary data allows us to say that the government will form a positive attitude, but everything will depend on the public investment committee, which I believe will meet by the end of the year.
The process will be as follows: if the committee gives a positive conclusion, we will move to the detailed economic research phase. If this phase also yields positive results, meaning that the company conducting the economic research confirms that this project is economically beneficial for Armenia, we will then involve an operator through a public-private partnership for the industrial park and port. After that, the operator will begin to make investments and invite various types of companies to establish their production in that industrial zone.
According to our current forecasts, if everything goes right, Gyumri will create 20,000 to 40,000 jobs in 2-3 years," said Vahan Kerobyan.
