VIDEO: Negotiations Held Between Russian Peacekeepers Commander and Azerbaijani 'Environmentalists'

In the Armenian city of Ivanyan, discussions have concluded between the command of the Russian peacekeepers and a monitoring group comprised of Azerbaijani 'environmentalists'. According to Azerbaijani media, the group's negotiations took place with Major General Andrei Volkov, the commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces, at the peacekeepers' headquarters in Ivanyan.

Following the negotiations, the Azerbaijanis returned to the occupied city of Shushi. It is noteworthy that the Azerbaijani side insists that there has been illegal exploitation of natural resources in Artsakh, which they intend to investigate.

It should be recalled that on December 3, a group of Azerbaijani 'environmentalists' in civilian clothes had blocked the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia at the intersection of Shushi-Karin Tak on the Stepanakert-Goris highway for several hours. Their action was justified with 'environmental' reasons. After the negotiations involving the commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces, Volkov, the Azerbaijanis opened the road, which is under the control of Russian peacekeepers per the November 9 agreement.
