Significant Warming in December Since 1988, but No Earthquake Recorded: Surenyan

The Deputy Director of the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center, Gagik Surenyan, posted on his Facebook page, stating that on December 7, 1988, temperatures were notably high, reaching +13 to +15 degrees Celsius in Yerevan and around +8 to +10 degrees Celsius in Gyumri. This has fueled concerns that such a rise in temperatures during winter might indicate an impending earthquake.

However, scientific studies have shown that atmospheric phenomena are not related to geological events, and these occurrences are merely coincidental. Since 1988, more significant temperature increases have been recorded in December, yet no earthquakes have been noted.
