Azerbaijan's Move Will Be a Major Blow to Armenia and Artsakh's Security System: Abrahamyan

Azerbaijani efforts to gain control over the corridor connecting Armenia and Artsakh, essentially a roadway, have created a rather dire situation. This statement was made by National Assembly member Tigran Abrahamyan on his Facebook page.

“The signals coming from Artsakh, Russian peacekeepers, and Azerbaijan on this issue are contradictory. One thing is very clear: Azerbaijan is doing everything possible to at least gain supervisory functions over the transportation of goods from Armenia to Artsakh and vice versa. Whether this will be done in conjunction with the Russian side or in any other format is no longer important. This move will be a major blow to the security system of Armenia and Artsakh, and it will be a significant step in Azerbaijan's process of annexing Artsakh,” he noted.

“If we also add Azerbaijan's so-called 'environmental' actions, which are in reality calculated political moves towards instituting monitoring mechanisms over Artsakh's resources, the picture becomes complete. With the silent consent of the Armenian authorities, Azerbaijan is increasing pressure on Artsakh and accelerating processes undesirable for us.”
