VIDEO: Organized Illegal Migration of Several Individuals for Up to $7,000
The National Security Service of Armenia's Yerevan City Department, based on operational information received, has revealed that A.B, who serves as the president of the "Muay Thai" Federation operating in Armenia, has engaged in organizing illegal migration of multiple individuals for financial gain between August and November 2022.
According to the preliminary agreement reached with unidentified individuals in the investigation, A.B and the group members coordinated their actions, previously distributing roles among themselves. They received amounts ranging from $3,400 to $7,000 from various citizens of the Republic of Armenia in exchange for facilitating their departure from Armenia and entering foreign countries, and subsequently aiding in their stay in those countries.
Specifically, to obtain proper entry permits for the "Schengen Agreement" countries, the aforementioned individuals submitted false legal documents to the relevant authorities in Armenia that falsely stated they were athletes or coaches of the "Muay Thai" Federation, along with fabricated information regarding workplace, salary amounts, bank accounts, and other evidently false data.
During the investigation into the criminal case, searches were conducted at the residence and vehicle of a member of the criminal group, as well as at the offices of the "Muay Thai" Federation, where numerous forged documents and blank templates were discovered and seized, along with other relevant data pertaining to the criminal case.
One of the group members was arrested on credible grounds, and based on the factual data obtained from the criminal proceedings, the supervising prosecutor has decided to initiate public criminal proceedings against him for organizing illegal migration under the corresponding articles of the Armenian Criminal Code. He has been remanded in custody as a measure of restraint.
The investigation is ongoing, and necessary investigative actions and operational-intelligence measures are being carried out to clarify all circumstances of the case and the complete range of individuals involved in the criminal acts, as well as to apply criminal-legal measures against them.
Notice: A person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia, by a legally binding court decision.
