Revelations from Former Spanish King’s Mistress

Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, the former mistress of Spain’s ex-king Juan Carlos, has revealed that the monarch desperately attempted to rekindle their romance by proposing marriage to her twice and promised to confer upon her the title of princess, according to the Daily Mail, as reported by Tert.am.

The 57-year-old German woman mentioned in the podcast "Corinna and the King" that she met Juan Carlos while he was still married to Queen Sofia, considering him to be the "love of her life." The couple first met in Spain in 2004, after which their romantic relationship continued for five years.

In January 2009, Corinna claims that during a romantic dinner, the king prioritized her by offering a large diamond ring worth an estimated 1 million euros, according to Spanish media.

The couple’s relationship deteriorated when Corinna began to care for her ailing father, Finn Bonning Larsen, who passed away in August of the same year. During this time, as she was not as "available" to the king, Juan Carlos found a new mistress, which ended his romance with Corinna.

In the latest episode of the podcast series, Corinna asserted that Juan Carlos proposed to her again in 2014 when they both visited her former husband Phillip Adkins’ country house in Cambridgeshire. "He took me to one of the guest rooms and told me that he loves me and wants to live happily together," she recounted.

Initially, Corinna laughed off Juan Carlos's proposal before informing him that her response was a firm "no." Furthermore, she stated that palace aides attempted to persuade her to resume her romantic relationship with the king.

In a desperate bid to convince her to marry him, Juan Carlos offered to elevate Corinna to the status of Bourbon princess. She further claimed that Juan Carlos gifted her 65 million euros as a "present" following the adverse publicity around their affair after the Botswana trip, which affected his wife's reputation.

In the new podcast episode, Corinna mentioned that she offered to return the money to Juan Carlos after he abdicated in favor of his son. However, she claimed that Juan Carlos rejected her offer.
