Emergency Situations Ministry Urges Use of Winter Tires; Several Roads Closed or Impassable

The Emergency Situations Ministry has announced that there are several closed and impassable roads throughout Armenia.

The roads leading from the "Amberd" high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn province to the Amberd Fortress and Kari Lake are closed. The Vanadzor-Dilijan and Vanadzor-Alaverdi roads, as well as the Stepanavan and Spitak twists, are closed to trucks with trailers, while other vehicles can only pass with difficulty.

There is black ice in some sections of the roads in Tavush, Syunik, and Gegharkunik provinces, as well as on the 40-50th km of the Yerevan-Sevan highway. Snow is falling in the Ararat and Lori provinces, in the Ashotsk region, and in the towns of Hrazdan, Tsaghkadzor, and Charentsavan. Fog is reported in Syunik province and on the Lanjik-Mastara road section.

Regarding the Lars checkpoint, according to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Emergency Situations Department of the Russian Federation's North Ossetia crisis management center, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
