Open Message to Tehran: Azerbaijan and Turkey Conduct Exercises Near Iran's Border

According to a military cooperation agreement between Azerbaijan and Turkey, joint Azerbaijani-Turkish exercises are being conducted, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced on Monday.

It is also noted that Turkey’s Minister of Defense Hulusi Akar will arrive in Azerbaijan today. Azerbaijani media reports that the exercises are taking place near the border with Iran. Media outlets emphasize that this serves as an open message to Tehran.

The exercises involve personnel from various types of troops, military and special engineering-sapper equipment, as well as the military aviation of the Azerbaijani army and the Turkish Armed Forces, covering the city of Baku and the regions of Astara, Jabrayil, and Imishli.

According to the scenario, the Azerbaijani army's ground forces, air forces, special forces, engineering troops, and rocket-artillery units are carrying out various combat training tasks in cooperation with Turkish Armed Forces personnel.

“During the exercises, taking into account modern methods of conducting battles, various tasks are being performed, including the use of artillery, aviation, and other types of troops in combat operations, organization of cohesion, construction of floating bridges over rivers for crossings, as well as the deployment of landing troops deep into enemy territory. The joint exercises primarily focus on ensuring combat cohesion of troops, improving command and control, sharing experiences, and enhancing personnel professionalism,” the report states.
