US Unveils New Generation B-21 Raider Strategic Bomber Capable of Carrying Nuclear Weapons
The United States Air Force has unveiled the new generation B-21 Raider strategic bomber, capable of carrying nuclear weapons, for the first time in 34 years. According to Ixbt.com, the presentation of the B-21 follows that of the B-2 Spirit aircraft, which debuted in November 1988.
The ceremony took place in Palmdale, California, at Northrop Grumman's facility and was attended by Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin. He stated that there is virtually no force in the world that could intercept the latest bomber in the air. The corporation has announced that this is the world's first sixth-generation bomber. It is capable of carrying munitions equipped for both conventional and nuclear payloads.
The aircraft also utilizes cloud technologies to create its “digital twin” for monitoring mission performance. The US Air Force plans to acquire at least 100 bombers worth $750 million each to replace the B-1 and B-2 bombers.
The B-21 Raider is expected to take to the skies in 2023.
