Uruguay Defender Strikes FIFA Director
The Uruguay national team secured a victory against Ghana (2-0) in the final group stage match of the 2022 World Cup but failed to advance to the knockout stage.
After the match, South American team defender José María Giménez attempted to approach referee Daniel Siebert but ended up elbowing FIFA director Colin Smith in the head.
Subsequently, the Atlético Madrid player began shouting and made several remarks that were likely directed at Smith and the referees, reportedly labeling them as 'thieves.'
It is also reported that FIFA may impose a 15-match suspension on Uruguay's defender José María Giménez due to the incident during the World Cup match against Ghana.
