Thailand Man Opens Fire at School, Motivated by Noise Complaints
In Thailand, a man enraged by daily noise from an elementary school fired 18 shots towards the school from a neighboring building, according to Vice. The incident occurred in the southern Ranong province of Thailand, causing students and teachers to flee to another building, with no injuries reported. On that day, most students did not attend classes, with only eight children present for a training session.
The shooter, identified by local media as Wutifong Chalermevuthanon, has been arrested. During questioning at the local police station, the 43-year-old man stated that he was disturbed by the noise emanating from the school every morning, including singing and the rendition of the national anthem.
The school's deputy principal, Porseen Srisufan, mentioned that efforts had been made to reduce the noise level using two layers of sound insulation, but it was insufficient to calm Wutifong down.
