“Our Daughters-in-law are Ready to Stand Firm Too”: Sahakyan
RA National Assembly’s "Hayastan" faction MP Ishkhan Sahakyan discussed with reporters in the Parliament that in the last three years, particularly in the past six months, his family and relatives have faced illegal and unlawful pressures by the authorities, including criminal cases, searches, and interrogations. “They do everything they can. My father has been interrogated, and illegal actions have been taken against my relatives' companies. They have conducted searches, and they are trying to bring charges against my father, calling him in for questioning regarding another case. My father told me, ‘Son, there is no backing down from this fight, our daughters-in-law are ready to stand firm too. Whatever they can do, let them do it. Probably, they think they can scare us into retreating from our path, but they are mistaken,” said Sahakyan.
Sahakyan also addressed the threat of losing his mandate, stating, “They have deprived us of our homeland, of the lives of 5,000 compatriots. What is a mandate, that they should even try to take it away? I am sure they will try to strip us of it; let them try. Regarding the claim that I came to the parliament to avoid losing my mandate, if I were here for the mandate, I would have been a diligent member long ago.”
