Bayramov Expresses Discontent with OSCE
Azerbaijan has become a victim of the misuse of consensus within the OSCE for many years. This statement was made by the country’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, according to TASS.
According to him, one of the examples of ignoring consensus was the decision made at the end of October to send OSCE observers to Armenia.
“The decision to send a needs assessment mission to Armenia without consensus was a blatant violation of the mandate approved by the collective will of all member states of the organization,” Bayramov stated.
On October 19, the OSCE announced its decision to send a needs assessment mission to Armenia. According to the organization, the purpose of the mission is to “assess the situation in certain border areas in accordance with the OSCE mandate and experience and within the framework of a comprehensive security concept.”
“The technical team, consisting of international experts and representatives of the OSCE Secretariat, will visit areas near the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and hold consultations with relevant national and local stakeholders, as well as international partners on the ground,” the OSCE representatives noted.
On Thursday, the 29th two-day meeting of the OSCE Council of Ministers started in Lodz.
