Zelensky States How Much Money Will Be Required for Ukraine's Recovery
More than one trillion dollars will be required for the recovery of Ukraine. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his video address to the General Assembly of the International Bureau of Exhibitions, during which he presented the Odesa bid to host "Expo 2030."
According to him, a system is currently being established in Ukraine that allows partner countries to "manage" regions, cities, or enterprises. "We have already seen interest from France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Austria, Greece, Canada, the USA, Japan, and Australia in this program. And this is not yet a complete list," Zelensky reported.
This summer, Ukrainian authorities announced that the costs of recovering the country were estimated at $750 billion. In the fall, Russia began massive strikes against Ukrainian cities, targeting Ukraine's energy system. According to "Ukrenergo," significant damage was inflicted on major thermal and hydroelectric power plants. The damage to energy facilities is estimated to be around two billion dollars.
On November 14, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution calling for the creation of a registry of damages caused by the war and the development of a mechanism for reparations to be paid by Russia to Ukraine. Additionally, the European Commission also plans to establish a legal mechanism for seizing frozen Russian assets for Ukraine's recovery. According to various sources, the volume of Russia's frozen assets amounts to $300-600 billion.
