Iran National Team Head Coach Resigns
Karlush Keirush has announced his resignation as head coach of the Iran national football team. Just yesterday, the Iranians failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup playoffs, finishing in third place in Group B.
“There are no moral victories in football, but there is nothing immoral about not being able to reach your dream if you have done everything with the desire and a winning mentality. I am proud of you all; you were wonderful on and off the pitch. It was an honor and a privilege for me to be part of this football family. I am confident that you have earned full respect by raising the prestige of your country and your supporters. Wishing everyone happiness, success, and health. Thank you,” wrote the Portuguese coach on his social media accounts.
In the final round of the group stage, the Americans defeated the Iran national team 1-0. This victory secured the American team a place in the tournament's playoffs.
After the match, USA players, including Anthony Robinson and Joshua Sargent, consoled the Iranian players, particularly defenders Ramin Rezayan and Abolfazl Jalali, along with other Iranian team members.
