The US Does Not Intend to Recognize Russia as a 'State Sponsor of Terrorism'
The US leadership does not plan to include Russia in the list of 'state sponsors of terrorism', reports Kp.ru.
The authorities fear that such a move could result in various negative consequences. According to the US Permanent Representative to the OSCE, Michael Carpenter, this step could hinder grain deals.
“We have fairly specific domestic legislative norms regarding state sponsors of terrorism. We believe that the application of this legislation would ultimately limit our ability to provide humanitarian aid to the occupied regions of Ukraine and facilitate other actions that, in our view, serve the interests of both Ukraine and the United States,” said the politician.
Earlier, it was reported that the European Parliament adopted a resolution recognizing Russia as a 'state sponsor of terrorism' due to its special operation in Ukraine. This decision was supported by 494 votes in favor, 58 against, and 44 abstentions.
