Why Anna Mkrtchyan Has Been Summoned for Questioning: Investigative Committee Clarifies
Yesterday, the Republican Party of Armenia, motivated by partisan interests, openly attempted to undermine a specific criminal case and the investigative actions being conducted within its framework, distorting the facts and spreading misinformation regarding the summoned questioning of Deputy Anna Mkrtchyan. This was clarified by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
The clarification also states: “An attempt has been made to create the impression that the reason for the invitation to questioning and the essence of the criminal proceedings in general is ‘the incorrect registration of the date of birth in the deputy’s birth certificate by one day, so that it 'might match a more significant date for other motives.' However, such a simplistic 'revelation' has no connection to reality.”
The truth is that during the preliminary investigation of a criminal case initiated under Article 314, part 1, and Article 325, part 1 of the RA Criminal Code / as per the new Criminal Code, Article 445, part 1 and Article 457, part 1 /, factual data has been obtained indicating that Anna Ara Mkrtchyan has been studying at Yerevan’s Kh. Dashtents number 114 school since 2001, and her brother Haik Ara Mkrtchyan since 2006. As of January 10, 2011, they were students at this school and only discontinued their studies on February 8, 2011.
In such circumstances, according to the obtained data, they constantly remained in Armenia from January 10, 2011, until May 27, 2011. Based on a falsified application filled out in the name of their mother, M. Grigoryan, they were enrolled in class 11 'a' of school number 2042 in Moscow, Russia, without attending classes or participating in secondary education programs, obtaining evidently falsified graduation certificates on June 15, 2011, which were used on June 29, 2011, during the admission competition for higher educational institutions.
In connection with these circumstances, notifications have been sent to summon Anna Mkrtchyan and Haik Mkrtchyan for questioning as witnesses. It is noteworthy that on November 26, 2022, when appearing at the investigative division, Anna Mkrtchyan utilized her legal rights during the questioning and refused to answer the questions posed to her.
We urge the political force that made such obvious distortions the subject of a special statement to refrain from such unsuccessful and unserious attempts to undermine public trust in the Investigative Committee of Armenia and state bodies. At the same time, we expect individuals and users freely disseminating texts published for political interests to refrain from such tricks and to at least familiarize themselves with official information before making diverse comments.
