FIFA on Punishing Player Wearing Shoes with Russian Flag

FIFA will not punish Cameroon national team midfielder Gael Ondua, who holds Russian citizenship, for wearing shoes decorated with the Russian flag during the World Cup in Qatar, according to a statement by the federation's press secretary.

It’s worth noting that Gael Ondua is the only player with Russian citizenship to participate in the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar. The midfielder took to the field wearing shoes adorned with both the Cameroonian and Russian flags.

Ondua has consistently stated that Russia is his second home, having lived there since he was seven years old.
