8 Dead and Missing Due to Landslide on Italian Ischia Island, State of Emergency Declared
The Italian government has declared a state of emergency due to a landslide on Ischia Island. This was reported by Life.
According to a statement from the Italian cabinet chief's press service, "The government of Italy has declared a state of emergency on Ischia Island, where 8 people have died as a result of the landslide. Under this decision, two million euros will be allocated to address the consequences of the natural disaster."
"The Council of Ministers has decided to declare a state of emergency with the allocation of two million euros from the national fund for emergencies, upon the proposal of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the Minister of Civil Protection and Maritime Policies Nello Musumeci," the statement added.
On the morning of November 26, heavy rains caused a landslide in the town of Casamicciola on Ischia Island. It was previously reported that at least 13 people are missing as a result of the disaster, including a child. It is also known that at least ten buildings have been destroyed due to the calamity.
