Azerbaijan Attempts to Create Grounds for Control Over Lachin Corridor: Marukyan
Azerbaijan is trying to create grounds for establishing control over the Lachin corridor. This was stated by Armenia’s special envoy Edmon Marukyan in an interview with Radio Liberty, referring to Baku’s latest accusations against Yerevan.
Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry reported yesterday that mines produced in Armenia have been discovered along the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the Kelbajar and Lachin regions since August, claiming that these mines indicate that Armenia has "used the Lachin corridor for illegal military activity," which constitutes a gross violation of the sixth point of the trilateral declaration.
“Why is this being done? It is being done for one reason only: to try to establish control over the Lachin corridor, and now they are preparing this so-called justification. We have responded and are informing all our international partners that these mines have been removed from the specified areas, meaning from the occupied territories of the Republic of Armenia,” said Marukyan.
