Are German Citizens Against Angela Merkel's Return?
The majority of German citizens (71%) are opposed to Angela Merkel's return to the position of Chancellor of Germany. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Civey sociological institute on behalf of the Funke media group.
23% of the residents of Germany would like Merkel to lead the government again. 6% of respondents were unable to answer the question.
According to the survey, 43% of participants stated that Merkel performed the role of Chancellor better than the current Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Moreover, Merkel's policies are rated more favorably in eastern Germany compared to the west.
It is worth reminding that Angela Merkel led the German government for 16 years, from 2005 to 2021.
