Aliyev: There has never been a situation like today in so many years regarding military exercises on the Iranian border

I have worked with three former presidents of Iran—Khatami, Ahmadinejad, and Rouhani. There has never been a situation like today in so many years. Iran has never conducted military exercises near our borders twice within a few months. There have never been statements filled with such hatred and threats directed at Azerbaijan.

President Ilham Aliyev made this statement during the international conference titled “Geopolitics, Security and Economy along the Middle Corridor.” He emphasized, “We have always reacted and will respond to any anti-Azerbaijani actions, be they statements or actions. Therefore, we were compelled to start military exercises near the Iranian border to show that we are not afraid of them. We will do everything possible to protect our way of life, the development of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis, including those Azerbaijanis living in Iran. They are part of our nation.”
