It is the Right of the Armenian Side to Assess the Situation in This Manner: Peskov
This is the right of the Armenian side to assess the situation in this manner. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov during an interview with the 'Rossiya' television channel, commenting on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that he is quite inclined to regard the CSTO's work regarding the situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan as a fiasco.
"This is the viewpoint of the Armenian side, it is the right of the Armenian side to assess the situation in this way. But on the other hand, the requirements of the CSTO in this situation are quite clear," Peskov said before the start of the expanded session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Yerevan.
Peskov reminded that the authorized individuals from the organization visited the contact zone based on the decision of the CSTO emergency summit. 'They presented their vision of the situation. And based on this visit by CSTO representatives, a decision must now be made on how to act," the Kremlin representative noted.
It is worth mentioning that the CSTO has not been able to reach an agreement on the declaration. As outgoing CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas has stated in a final press conference, two documents were not adopted. This includes a draft decision to provide assistance to Armenia and the declaration.
"The document has generally been recognized as prepared, but it needs to be finalized. It has been instructed to finalize and present it for the signature of the heads of states. The same applies to the declaration," he noted. According to him, this is a normal process; there is no international organization where everyone thinks the same way.
