Draft Decision of CSTO Did Not Satisfy Armenian Side: Hunanian

The Armenian side expects a clear political assessment from the CSTO allies regarding the Azerbaijani aggression on September 13-14, and the existing version of the Collective Security Council's draft decision on "Joint Measures to Assist the Republic of Armenia" did not meet their expectations, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Vahan Hunanian in an interview with Azatutyun.

"Therefore, it was decided to send the document for revision," he said in response to a question about what proposals Armenia had presented that were ultimately not accepted, resulting in the draft decision on "Joint Measures to Assist the Republic of Armenia" not being signed.

Hunanian added that it is unfortunate that some CSTO partners linked the adoption of the Collective Security Council's declaration and the announcement of the CSTO Foreign Ministers' Council regarding efforts to achieve peace in the South Caucasus with the simultaneous adoption of the decision on assisting Armenia, as a result of which all three documents were sent for revision.

The Collective Security Treaty Organization did not adopt the three documents yesterday. Despite the fact that the CSTO did not issue a political statement or condemn Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia, the Prime Minister today positively evaluated the discussions at the Yerevan summit. Pashinyan had yesterday refused to sign the CSTO declaration and the draft decision on joint measures of assistance to Armenia, arguing that the document had not been finalized.
