VIDEO: Pashinyan Welcomes Putin as CSTO Summit Commences

Under the presidency of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the meeting of the Collective Security Council of the CSTO commenced in Yerevan. According to Armenpress, the participants include President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation, President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, and President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan.

The members of the Collective Security Council will discuss current issues of international and regional security, as well as the main outcomes of CSTO activities during the inter-sessional period.

One of the key issues will be the improvement of the CSTO crisis response system and the discussion of joint measures to provide assistance to the Republic of Armenia.

During the CSTO Collective Security Council meeting, it is planned to adopt the declaration of the Collective Security Council. A number of documents will be signed regarding the equipping of peacekeeping forces with modern weapons, military and special equipment, and the establishment of joint protection against radiation, chemical, and biological threats.

Additionally, the issue of the CSTO Secretary General will also be discussed in connection with the rotation scheduled for January 1, 2023.
