VIDEO: Number of victims from earthquake in Turkey increases
The number of victims from the earthquake that struck western Turkey has risen from 22 to 35, reported Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, according to Ria Novosti.
A 6.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in western Turkey, as announced by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). The shocks were recorded at 01:08 UTC (05:08 Yerevan time).
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 14 kilometers southeast of the city of Duzce, with its depth at six kilometers. Preliminary data indicated that there were no injured individuals, and classes in educational institutions in the region have been suspended.
“According to available information, the number of victims has reached 35. Of these, 32 are located in Duzce, with one each in Istanbul, Bolu, and Zonguldak,” Koca tweeted.
