Cavusoglu Discusses California's Decision on Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day
Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu addressed the California state assembly's decision during a budget discussion at the Foreign Ministry, as reported by Ermenihaber.
The California state assembly has passed a resolution declaring April 24 as Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day and designating it as a non-working day.
"After the passage of the law, our strong reactions have been recorded by U.S. authorities. Additionally, we continue to raise this issue in our communications with the American side," said Cavusoglu.
It is worth noting that this bill (AB 1801) was introduced by California state assemblymember Adrien Nazaryan. The legislation mandates that all community colleges and public schools across California be closed on April 24 each year, and that state employees be granted paid leave.
