Protest Action Offends Erdogan: Swedish Ambassador Summoned by Turkey's Foreign Ministry
Swedish Ambassador Stefan Herström was summoned to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday, according to Turkish media reports. The ambassador was informed of Turkey's protests regarding a "provocation that took place near the Turkish embassy in Stockholm."
It is worth noting that Kurds organized a protest near the Turkish embassy in Sweden, displaying images that, according to Ankara, contain propaganda for the PKK's "terrorism" and insult President Erdogan.
Ankara has demanded that the Swedish ambassador condemn this action and investigate it, stressing the expectation of revealing those responsible for this unacceptable act and taking necessary measures.
The ambassador was also informed that the Turkish side expects specific steps from Sweden regarding the obligations outlined in the memorandum between Turkey, Sweden, and Finland.
Additionally, Turkey and Hungary are the only NATO member countries that have not yet ratified the applications of the Scandinavian countries to join the alliance.
