Tehran Receives 'Positive Signals' from Baku, Says Iran’s Foreign Ministry

The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that the country has received "positive signals" from Azerbaijan during bilateral negotiations. This was reported by the Mehr news agency.

Commenting on the recent tensions between Iran and Azerbaijan, Nasser Kanaani said at a press conference on Monday, "Our principle in bilateral relations with neighbors, particularly the Republic of Azerbaijan, is mutual respect, deepening relations, and bilateral cooperation."

Regarding the "positive signals" that Iran has recently received from Azerbaijani officials within the framework of bilateral negotiations, the spokesperson remarked, "We hope that necessary steps will be taken in proportion to this positive discourse during bilateral negotiations."

"However, questions arise that, unfortunately, contradict the overall political will for enhancing ties," he added.

The spokesperson also urged Azerbaijani officials to refrain from discussing misunderstandings and disagreements through the media, stating that the media should be used for fostering closer friendship.
