Benzema Will Miss the World Cup
The official website of the French Football Federation has released a statement regarding striker Karim Benzema. The statement indicates that the French forward will miss the World Cup to be held in Qatar. Previously, Benzema had left training early and went for tests at a hospital in Doha, which unfortunately confirmed a thigh injury that will require a three-week recovery period.
“I am very sad for Karim. Despite this new blow for France, I have complete confidence in my team. We will do everything to overcome the enormous challenge ahead of us,” said head coach Didier Deschamps.
In Group D, France will face Australia, Denmark, and Tunisia. It is worth noting that this will likely be the last World Cup that the player could have participated in, as Karim will turn 35 this year.
