VIDEO: Poland's National Team Departed for the Championship Accompanied by Fighter Jets

Another interesting news ahead of the World Cup to be held in Qatar. The Polish national team has departed for the tournament accompanied by fighter jets.

On November 16, the Poles successfully held a match against Chile (1:0), with the only goal scored by Krzysztof Piątek in the closing stages of the game. The following day, the team headed to Qatar. The journey was uneventful, and players along with the coaching staff landed at Doha airport on schedule, as reported by Championat.com.

Jacek Magiera’s team was escorted to Poland's southern border by F-16 multirole fighter jets. Interestingly, one of the pilots had the national colors of red and white in the cockpit. Additionally, he attached a piece of paper on the side window that read in Polish, 'Football Unites Us.'

Łukasz Wachowski, the executive director of the Polish Football Association, wrote on social media: 'Red and white colors and the inscription 'Football Unites Us.' It was a great experience. Once again, we would like to thank the pilots and the airbase.'

Many connected this action with the recent missile incident at Poland's border. However, not all journalists approved of this demonstration. For instance, Agnieszka Musiał, a correspondent for Przegląd Sportowy, stated: 'Polish football is strongly associated with absurdity for me. The evidence is in these images.'

In contrast, Michał Kołodziejczyk, the director of Canal + Sport, described the situation with a more upbeat tone: 'A nice gesture from the Polish footballers. The same was done by the Italians in 2006. Of course, that was upon their return from the World Cup. But why are we reading about this on social media?'

In March 2022, the Polish national team was supposed to come to Moscow for the World Cup playoff. Later, the Russian national team was removed from the list of potential participants, and the Poles advanced to the qualifying final round without a fight. There, they defeated Sweden (2:0) and secured their ticket to Qatar.

The Polish footballers will play their first match in the World Cup on November 22 against Mexico. They are also expected to face Saudi Arabia (November 26) and Argentina (November 30). Four years ago, at the tournament held in Russia, the Poles finished their campaign in the group stage. They ended up in last place with Colombia, Japan, and Senegal.
