VIDEO: We Propose a Budget That Exceeds the 2018 Budget by 75%, Navigating Through War and COVID - Prime Minister

The tax revenue portion of the 2023 budget is planned to be 2 trillion 204 billion drams, which is 946 billion drams or 75.1% more than the 2018 figure. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his speech at the National Assembly on November 16 while discussing the 2023 budget.

"This means that 4.5 years after the revolution, having gone through war and COVID, we are proposing a budget that is 75% higher than the 2018 budget. The expenditures for the defense sector are set at 509 billion drams, which is an increase of 113% compared to 2018, meaning more than a doubling. Compared to 2022, the increase is 47%. The content behind these numbers is equally important. I would like to highlight with joy that we are starting a voluntary certification process for military personnel that will at least double their salaries. We will have cases where there will even be a triple increase. We are transitioning to a professional army. Those who choose a military profession and complete a military educational institution will receive housing upon appointment, which will be theirs. They will have the right to dispose of it after completing their service," said Nikol Pashinyan.

He also noted that the process of reforming the army has begun and is gaining new momentum every month.
