Iranian MP's Harsh Response to Aliyev: 'History Shows Azerbaijan Belongs to Iran'

In response to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's statements, a representative from Tabriz has asserted that if the talk is about reunification, then Azerbaijan should join Iran. This report comes from the Iranian portal qafqaz.ir, as relayed by Инфотека24.

“When we face external political weakness, every incompetent person feels entitled to say absurdities. However, it is clear that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, when the barbed wires separating this country were taken down, we witnessed how numerous Azerbaijanis rushed to the Aras River to move to Iran. The connection between those on both sides of the Aras is stronger. They belong to this side. No one rushed from this side to the other. This speaks to the fact that the people on both sides of the Aras have an Iranian identity,” the MP stated.

He believes that the issues currently present in the country have allowed foreign powers to express their anti-Iranian sentiments. “The U.S. president, who says he will liberate Iran, the French president, who calls popular protests a revolution, and Ilham Aliyev, who seeks to assert himself, are all foreigners. We expect that by strengthening national unity and creating a force stemming from the will of the people, all these absurdities will be responded to as quickly as possible, because as long as they believe that the 'iron fist' of the people will not exist, they will continue to boast,” the Iranian MP emphasized, highlighting that history shows Azerbaijan belongs to Iran, and if the talk is about reunification, then Azerbaijanis should join Iran.

It is noteworthy that in Samarkand, Aliyev stated, “The Turkic world consists not only of independent Turkic states; its geographical boundaries are broader. I believe it is time to focus on issues such as the prevention of the assimilation of our compatriots living outside the borders of Turkic organization member countries, as well as the protection of their rights, security, and national identity.”
