Will the Prosecutor Initiate the Process to Strip Immunity from Three MPs of the 'Armenia' Faction?

National Assembly President Alen Simonian does not rule out that the Prosecutor General of Armenia may come to the National Assembly and initiate the process to strip immunity from three MPs of the 'Armenia' faction.

"I do not have official information on this matter; I have seen the news in the media, but I do not exclude it," Simonian said in a conversation with reporters at the National Assembly.

He noted that he does not rule out that many people, who had issues with the law in the past and thought that a parliamentary mandate could somehow protect them, will now understand that it is not the case.

When asked whether it is possible for the issue of stripping mandates from the opposition to occur at the end of the session, the National Assembly President stated that the issue regarding absences has not been discussed currently, but it would be appropriate for those members who continue to be absent to leave the National Assembly.

"Let's see; today is the first day, it is good that they have returned, it is better than not being here, although I do not have high expectations," Simonian noted.
