Benefits Will Be Paid Cashless: Details

From January 1, 2023, family and social benefits, as well as emergency assistance payments, will be made cashless in cities and rural areas with a population of over 1000. This was presented by Davit Khachatryan, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, during a session of the National Assembly along with a package of draft laws amending the Law on State Benefits.

According to current regulations, family and social benefits, as well as payments for emergency assistance, are made both in cash and cashless. Since July 1, 2021, pensions and other monetary payments made under the pension payment procedure have been exclusively cashless. At the pensioner’s request, based on their application, cash payments can be made to those with disabilities of the 1st or 2nd category, or individuals aged 75 and over.

"We consider it appropriate to extend the cashless payment policy to family and social benefits, considering the timeline for the implementation of the cashless pension payment system. In Yerevan, Gyumri, and Vanadzor, this was initiated from July 1, 2021, in other cities from January 1, 2022, in rural areas with a population of over 1000 from January 1, 2023, and in villages with fewer than 1000 residents from January 1, 2024," remarked the Deputy Minister.

Thus, the proposed draft suggests that family and social benefit payments, as well as emergency assistance payments, will be made cashless in cities and rural areas with a population of over 1000 from January 1, 2023, and in rural areas with fewer than 1000 residents starting in 2024.
