Iran's Priorities: Tehran on Armenia-Azerbaijan Relations

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani discussed the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan during a press briefing, emphasizing that Tehran unequivocally welcomes diplomatic dialogue, which is a priority for Iran.

In response to recent statements from the President of Azerbaijan and certain media outlets criticizing Iran, Kanaani stated: "As you know, last week the Azerbaijani ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Tehran, where Iran's strong protest was conveyed. Iran's policy is based on the expansion of friendship and cooperation with its neighbors, and Azerbaijan is no exception in this regard. However, no one has the right to misinterpret this policy of Iran. Our behavior is not influenced by such ‘minor storms’, and therefore, Iran's silence and patience should not be interpreted as weakness of the country. Our policy towards neighbors is based on strengthening neighborly ties, so expressing positions and protests behind the media is futile."
