No One Beat Me: Armen Hakobyan Responds to Press Publications
“No one beat me, I have no bruises or injuries, and I did not beat anyone,” Armen Hakobyan, the head of the Civil Contract party's list for the Sisian community, stated in an interview with Aravot.
It is noteworthy that, according to press reports, Armen Hakobyan allegedly assaulted a relative of a representative from one of the parties competing in the Sisian City Council elections on September 25, after which he was reportedly assaulted himself.
“I called that media outlet, but they don’t answer. I am alive and well,” Hakobyan noted.
Regarding his absence from regional events, Armen Hakobyan mentioned that although he was elected mayor at the first session of the newly elected council on October 12, subsequent sessions were not held due to a lack of quorum. “I have been elected, but I have not yet assumed my powers, so currently the duties of the community leader are being performed by my first deputy Karen Hovhannisyan, and all invitations are sent to him,” Hakobyan stated in our conversation.
It should be recalled that out of the 21 mandates in the Sisian community council, the Civil Contract party received 8, the Work and Justice alliance 5, the Living Country party 4, and the One Armenia and For the Republic parties received 2 mandates each. Candidates from Work and Justice, One Armenia, and Living Country have submitted applications for dismissal. The session with 10 council members is not legally valid, as it does not have a quorum.
