A Family Slaughtered with a Relative: Zohrebeyan Proposes Death Penalty for Perpetrators of Brutal Murder in Pemzashen

Former Member of the National Assembly of Armenia, Naira Zohrebeyan, wrote on her Facebook page:

“On November 9, the first thought after the brutal murder of a mother and her two minor children in Pemzashen was that only a Turk could butcher a young woman and children with such brutality. And society decided that this was a ceremonial murder by a Turk to commemorate the capitulation agreement signed on November 9.

The one who brutally killed the 31-year-old mother and her 12 and 8-year-old children is not a Turk; he is an Armenian who entered and slaughtered a family with his own kin. There is information that sexual violence also occurred against the 12-year-old girl. Let’s not describe what will happen to this beast and the other beast in prison. But now there is a very clear question: this issue must either be resolved through vendetta - blood for blood, or under the current Criminal Code, the maximum punishment of life imprisonment will not be a just retribution for such a crime.

My proposal, which I repeatedly put forward, remains in force: for such cases, pedophilia, and several other particularly heinous crimes, the death penalty should be reinstated. In the past, I prepared a legislative initiative to at least subject pedophiles to chemical castration, which did not even reach the discussion phase in the committee.

The number one measure of punishment must be justice. Sentencing this beast and the other who slaughtered a family to life imprisonment and “rotting” in prison will not be just recompense and will become vendetta. They must be subjected to the death penalty by law.”
