"The Document Contains One Reference to the Corridor". Aghajanyan on Disagreements with Baku
The statement by Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev that Baku does not demand an extraterritorial corridor was viewed by the Chairman of the Armenian National Assembly’s Foreign Relations Committee, Eduard Aghajanyan, as yet another manifestation of Baku's manipulative tactics. Aghajanyan made this statement in an interview with "Azatutyun".
Aghajanyan emphasized that when it becomes practically possible to reach an agreement with Baku on key provisions, very clear and principled disagreements arise regarding the issue of unblocking transportation routes. Here, according to Aghajanyan, it becomes clear that when the Azerbaijani president speaks of a corridor, he refers to the same operational regime that is directly correlated with the Lachin corridor.
The ruling party MP noted that if there had been any misunderstanding, it would have been very easy to clarify this issue during the numerous meetings over the past year. Citing the November 9, 2020 announcement, Aghajanyan stated that there is one reference to a corridor in the document concerning the Lachin corridor and the operational regime of that corridor is very clear and understandable for all parties involved.
Yesterday, during a government meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Azerbaijan is rejecting the proposal for the construction of new communications, which Armenia formally put forward and presented to Azerbaijan back in December 2021, stressing that they plan to present a new proposal on this subject in the near future.
When asked what proposal the Prime Minister was talking about yesterday, Aghajanyan replied that he was unaware of it.
