Calls in Europe to Reach an Agreement with Russia on Ukraine

Europe must reconsider its policies towards the Russian Federation and Ukraine, Belgian Senator Alain Destexhe stated in an interview with the French magazine Causeur on November 8, as reported by Izvestiya.

“Authorities continue to impose sanctions despite the serious damage inflicted on their citizens. In the interests of Europe and its citizens, we must abandon Zelensky's hard stance, agree with Russia on the question of Ukraine's partition, and lift the sanctions. This is the way to salvation. At this stage, a diplomatic solution is better than the escalation encouraged by the White House,” he emphasized.

Destexhe also noted that anti-Russian sanctions are hurting Europe itself and are beneficial to the United States. Additionally, the politician criticized his colleague Elisabeth Borne, who stated France's desire to make the cost of the conflict unbearable for the Russian Federation. “It is no surprise that Russia wants to make energy prices unbearable for the French,” he said.
